My Story
Hello, and Welcome to C. L. Smalls Books!

I am a debut author with a passion for reading picture books to kids and writing mystery novels for teens to adults. I love brick and mortar bookstores. Barnes & Noble is my favorite, but I also like Books-A-Million and Powell's Books. I'm also a big fan of libraries!

I got hooked on reading by Amelia Bedelia when I was in first grade. Her propensity to misunderstand the simplest of instructions was very relatable to my dyslexic younger self, and I instantly became addicted to her stories. From their, the adventures of Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, and Encyclopedia Brown kept me turning pages every night. ​As a teen, I fell in love with the Baby-Sitter's Club and Sweet Valley High. I still love to read, and I make time for a good science fiction or Murder Mystery whenever I can. To this day my favorite book is The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis.

When I became a mother my reading journey started all over again. It began by reading picture books to my kids when they were little, and progressed as I watched them fall in love with their own genres, one amazing story at a time.

I love Food!
This channel is just for the love of food. If my hubs makes a delicious meal, I'll share it here. If we dine out, I'll share it. Sometimes we have a cookout and grill up some burgers, or roast hotdogs over an open fire, and if we do, I'll share that here too. From summer s'mores to Thanksgiving Turkeys and everything in between, I love to eat and I share what I love.
